Maremma – The Maremma comprises all of natures elements in one area: forests full of wildlife ( including our famous wild Boar ), natural and unspoilt beaches, beautiful Tuscan hills and valleys with working farms, olive groves, vinyards etc. and there are landmark ruins left by the Etruscans and Romans, all of which are well worth taking time to visit.
Very nearby are hilltop towns such as Magliano, Amiata and Montiano each with an incredible history dating back over 500 years. These all offer museums, churches etc plus several local restaurants and trattorias serving traditional local cuisine and wines.
A short drive distant we have the medieval towns of Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovrano with elements of great architectural interest built in tufo, the local volcanic rock. Pitigliano in particular has an amazing history and is a must to visit.
In addition there are formal Gardens containing famous sculptures, Wildlife Parks and Lakes with amazing wildlife and bird sanctuaries.
The coastline is incredibly diverse with superb natural sandy beaches, world-class Dive Sites, the islands of Giglio, Gianuttri, Elba all accessible by boat. Coasal towns such as Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole need no introduction and no trip to Mareme would be complete without time spent on the sea or along the coast.
Finally we must make mention of the many world-class Wineries which are to be found throughout the area and are all a short drive from Casale Sterpeti. Wine Tours with tasting and dining if required are readily organised and it would be our pleasure to organise trips / visits / tours / transport / catering etc to fulfil all of your expectations!
Welcome to Maremma… life as it should be!
